Sexual Assault Awareness Month: THREE ways to use Social Media to get involved!

It is Sexual Assault Awareness month! April gives us an opportunity to dig in and learn things we didn’t know and have conversations we need to have! Just because we’re in a world wide pandemic, doesn’t mean we can’t get involved in prevention efforts. Here are 3 easy ways for you to join the fight, have conversations and learn all through the magic machine in your hands (or computer, which ever!)

  1. Follow & like different agencies that provide content on violence prevention! Here are just a few ideas:

    • Facebook & Instagram

      • Life Beyond the Lies - Jessica Teresi (Not on Twitter)

      • National Sexual Violence Resource Center or NSVRC

      • End Violence Against Women International or EVAWI

      • Rape and Incest National Network or RAINN

      • Your local county & state agencies (You can find on RAINN.org)

  2. Follow #SAAM21 or #SexualAssaultAwareness2021 on you social media accounts

  3. Share content from the agencies you support on your personal profile to get the conversation going within your own followers. This is important for two reasons you may not have thought about:

    1. It shows victim/survivors who you know, but may not have known are victim/survivors, that you are a safe person for them to disclose to should they need to talk to someone.

    2. The more times articles and posts get shared the more eyes see the content. This helps to spread awareness and access people who perhaps would never have seen it.

Joining the conversation to end sexual violence doesn’t have to be hard. It doesn’t require you to expel a ton of energy either, but unless we all join it, we won’t talk about it! And, if we don’t talk about it, we can’t end it.

So, this April, let’s join forces and end violence one conversation at a time!

In Truth,

Jess
